What’s the Difference Among Full-Spectrum CBD, Broad-Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate?

As a CBD user, you’ve probably noticed the terms “broad-spectrum,” “full-spectrum” and “CBD isolate.” These are important product descriptors to consider when purchasing CBD, as your experience with a broad-spectrum product would be very different than a full-spectrum product.

Full-Spectrum CBD

Let’s start on one end of the CBD scale: Full-spectrum CBD. There are dozens of cannabinoids in the cannabis plant that interact with our internal endocannabinoid system – two of the most-researched are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).
  • THC is a naturally occurring chemical compound that is associated with the psychoactive effects of cannabis. It’s also highly regulated.
  • CBD is also a naturally occurring chemical compound that is non-psychoactive, non-intoxicating and used for various wellness benefits.
  • Other common cannabinoids, like CBG, CBN and CBC, offer their own properties as well.
Full-spectrum CBD refers to products that contain all cannabinoids extracted from the cannabis plant, including THC, CBD and any other cannabinoids that survive the extraction process. To be clear, Bōdee Organics does not manufacture full-spectrum products – only broad-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate. Our products are completely THC-free.

CBD Isolate

On the opposite end of the scale is CBD isolate. This is the purest form of the CBD compound – that means it’s just CBD without any other cannabinoids. This type also has the highest concentration of CBD per serving, making for potent products. For example, our Cooling Pain Gel contains CBD isolate.

Broad-Spectrum CBD

Right between the two extremes is broad-spectrum CBD. Think of this as your CBD happy medium. It contains a wealth of cannabinoids, like CBD, CBN, CBG and others – but doesn’t include THC. This allows for the Entourage Effect, which theorizes using CBD in conjunction with a range of cannabinoids and terpenes may lead to deeper, enhanced effects. Our capsules, softgels, tinctures and body balms contain broad-spectrum CBD, for all-day synergy without any intoxication. Have more questions?
